October Journal Page

Here's my magic pumpkin. I was carving a few pumpkins and taking the top off, I discovered how the inside of the pumpkin resembled a magical world. I thought about how the "pumpkin" could be a portal to another place and time. Isn't it nice to have an imagination! Anyway, here's my magic pumpkin....

September Page

I've finished September Journal Page. I've had a few moments where I wished I could fly away to another spot. My September page is a "Flying Carpet".

My Magic Carpet brought me to another bead sculpture idea that I call "The Place Where I go to be..."

And a detailed view.

Here's another view.

I finished this beaded sculpture that I call "Upholding The Family Tree"

I created the form and beaded using Right Angle Weave. The form is beaded around my Grandmother's Mirror.

August

I completed this portion of my August door while waiting for a meeting to start, members to arrive, dinner to start. It was a long day and I kept my patience while beading away....it's wonderful that beading is portable.

Returned to beading

I left off beading for a couple of years. I worked and finished my masters and began working full time. I love working and putting my kids through college. I am very glad to be beading again. It's a highlight to my day. I'm almost 3/4th done on my June page. I am trying to complete something to enter the Dairy Barn's Bead International. So, the BJP is a great place to meet new bead friends. I love viewing everyone's work.

Three Heads Are Better Than One

My lariat won first place at Embellishment 2000. I created a Ndebele base for the lariat and I used Free Form Right Angle Weave for the embellishment. I made a "beaded" bead for the fringe.

Friday, June 15, 2007

I am going to use free-form right angle weave around the fabric circle to embellish the remainder of the brown cover.
I am beading a window frame. I am using bead embroidery tehniques and off loom bead weaving. The blue insert is sky and I am going to outline the blue clouds with beads. I am going to add a few words on the left side of the page.

Tamed the bead stash

I'm just about finished moving my beads from cracked tubes to plastic bags. It's taken some time but worth the effort.

Started beading

My theme for my journal is windows. I see this project as an open window to new skills, ways of thinking....I find myself wanting to use my tried and true techniques and it's an effort to learn new stitches. I have the embroidery book by Robin and I found another book that is more of a textbook on stitches. So, I feel all thumbs like when I first started beading and I have a sense of discovery...I am climbing through an open window!

First big bead effort

I created Memories Movement after my mother passed away. Beading life events is another form of a beaded journal.

Starting...

Starting the Bead Journal feels like a big stretch. I think writing is a good outlet or a window into the soul. I think of beading as "catching the moment" or catching my moments.

I beaded above hat with the idea of "cathcing the moment' and there are many "moments" interconnected in the hat

One of my goals with the Bead Journal Project is to add other elements with my beadwork and this is will be a totally new effort.
